Subject:Re: Guitar amp watts vs PA watts? help me to understand
UKDave, that was fast.. and you are my hero for today.. I checked out the link and between that and looking at the QSC specs I figured out that the QSC's are class D whereas I have to assume that his boutique amp (custom built for him) is a class A and it has a highly efficient watt to volume relationship.
I suppose that there is no fixed relationship between a class A watt to class D watt, with respect to actual volume output, it probably depends on a lot of things.. if there was it might be a handy tidbit of info to have in my back pocket!
My QSC K10's had lots more headroom, and I wasn't even at half volume, I just didn't think it was appropriate to turn up any louder and I don't think that it's reasonable to have one member of the band going through the PA when no one else is, only vocals. just doesn't seem fair dammit... (envision a tear running down my cheek)
Thanks Dave,
Craig
