Something i learned from the QSC forum. The K10 likes a really hot signal and I suspect it can produce more db's without clip than the mackie, but you might need to up the input signal. I know my SRM450 hated a hot signal, my C1 with speakeasy pre into a behringer mixer, could easily make the 450 produce a really hideous distortion noise even at relatively low volume if cranked too high at the input. I have not tried my K10 yet live with a mixer in front of it, i've been running it direct from the C1 and yes, in this config. it's on the edge of being not quite loud enough. The tech on the forum seemed to be saying that you can feed the K10 a really hot signal and it will love it and it will get super loud before it starts to clip, so i'm going to try this out next gig. I'm not technical but presumably there is a big difference in the pre amp sections of the 450's compared to the K10, such that the Mackie produces more voulme from a much lower input signal. The down side being, if that signal is too hot the 450 will start to fail big time?
