Subject:Re: FS: Studiologic VMK-166 Plus Organ Touch controller

Hi Jason, I saw your video on Youtube about the key dip, nice one for uploading.

However, in regard to the VMK-161 Organ, I wonder if the mod you documented would work with the VMK as it has an aftertouch strip?

Also the black keys are different to the majority of Fatar waterfall actions that I know of. They're longer, thinner, flat and have a textured feel compared to what I believe is the normal TP-80 key.

This was ultimately the reason I laid down the $£€ for the VMK as I prefer these flat long black keys.

I'm really enjoying the board so far, not for strict Hammond emulation but really as an alternative for fully weighted hammer actions.

I do still have a hankering to do the key dip mod and possibly get someone to hack the firmware to get shallow triggering... Then some lighter springs could also work nicely in there.

The velocity response is really very good and this comes from someone who doesn't get on with none weighted hammer action midi controllers.

The aftertouch is sh*te though, you can basically treat it like an on and off switch.

This board ( Studiologic VMK-161 Organ ) is very close to the ideal synth controller for me but I don't think people familiar with the standard Hammond action will find what they're after.

Hope this adds to the info about this board.
