Subject:Applying separate "Preset Combinations" to L/U parts with a ext midi keyboard?
Folks
Forgive what might be a stupid question based on my lacking full comprehension of the equipment concerned.
I have an XK-1 and wanted to start experimenting with being able to play with two keyboards as cheaply as possible - so bought a Yamaha KX25 "USB Keyboard Studio" which has a MIDI out/in ports.
I achieved a working MIDI link between the Yamaha and the XK-1, where playing the Yamaha produces "Lower Part" sounds.
My question relates to what the XK-1 manual states on page 78 when describing Internal/External zones, Upper Lower Parts, MIDI and all that fits together (gulp...)
Under the heading Keyboard Channel - Lower, is the following:
"This is for the LOWER Part performance informaiton not only for controlling but switching data of the Preset for the LOWER Part independently."
Can somebody explain to me what the last bit means - "switching data of the Preset for the LOWER Part Independently"? Idependently of what, and how do I achieve it when I am playing the Lower Part with the external dumb midi keyboard?
I have checked the XK-3c user manual and it gives virtually identical instructions, by the way.
The relevant settings I have on the D[Midi] menu are as follows:
TEMPLATE = Seq.Record 4RECL
MAST / MIDI In = Lower/Pedal
MAST - all other parameters as default.
Has anyone with an XK1 or a XK-3c and an external midi keyboard (which of course does NOT have a set of Combi Preset buttons achieved what I am trying to do and which the user manual appear to say is possible
Cheers
Nigel
