I had to choose between the SK-1 and the NE3 73 .The thing that really swung the deal for me was the Nord's 73-note keyboard - I play a lot of Wurlitzer in my current band and I'd be lost without those low notes. I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not regarding your reasons for wanting to change - the SK-1 would have to be pretty special for me to give up the extra keys and the most realistic organs and electric pianos I've found so far for the sake of a different colour!

Hi All

I am thinking of going Hammond SK1! I presently own a Nord
Electro 3 73 ..w.Vent and Ocean Beach DB-2 Drawbars .powered thru

a QSC K 12.
I find the Nord to be the best of any clone i have used ..
I think i want a change .....I am tired of the color of my Nord .
red dresses and red keyboards are very distracting .

I also have a B-3 and Casio Privia PX 330 and Fantom X-8. and Previously i
owned a Hammond XK-1
The Nord has been great for easy moves to an fro band practice & or the few gigs I play .

I have a lot of knowledge gathering to do before i make this change ...and am
enthusiastically looking forward to getting to know an SK-1.. I just got my complimentary Hammond DVD today ...

A few of the questions about the Hammond SK1 are:

1. Should I use onboard/leslie rotor or Vent or Real Leslie ...( I think we all agree there is nothing like the real deal ..) But the Vent is really great ..i have had one for over a year ..

2. I was initially questioning the SK 1 pianos and 'Other Sounds " but after watching few of the latest youTube vids ...I am hearing a very good ...AP ...and EP sounds on the SK1 SK2

3. What is avail as a case or carry bag? ...I really love the red well padded
NORD Bag i carry my NE3 around in ...tho it does lack the snappy look and appeal of a good REI sleeping bag ...and i def would not fit inside my red Nord
carry case. I do not gig enuff per year to warrant a heavy duty hard case
as i travel to an from the few gigs in my suburban.

4. Should i go SK 1 or SK 2 ? I like the idea of the SK2 but no separate drawbars for the lower manual ...has me a bit perplexed ...I spose space on the top of the keyboard was the reason ..

5. If i was to get the SK2 will it fit on one of my Z stands or X stands ?...I think i have about 4 or 5 stands around my house ...but a Hammond really needs a Hammond stand ...oh my that is a whole nother can of worms ...

6. A really big question is ease of operation ...manipulating thru the digital
Menus ...I really did not easily get into my XK-1 menus ...

so many things to contemplate ...but time is awasting ...

Please let me know what you think ... ....
Opinions are welcome ...

As always i expect brutally frank comments on my quest to get outside the
Nord Box .
