Subject:Re: RotoChoir Leslie Sim?

I took a look at the YouTube video for the Roto Choir here:

Many moons ago I played my guitar through a Leslie. As far as I can recall it didn't sound much like what I'm hearing from the Tech 21 Roto Choir. The Roto Choir sounds too much like a chorus effect plus phasing plus maybe some flanging. There's too much "pitch bending" which is typical of chorus stomp boxes which you don't hear so much of in a Leslie. A Leslie shimmers more than it pitch bends. In other words the Roto Choir sounds like a bunch of the usual guitar stomp boxes melded together. I've always found the sound of a guitar through a Leslie to be a very unique, very odd, sounding effect. I don't get that feeling with this box. I realize it is a YouTube video and that this might have an effect on the quality of the sound, although I think the quality is fairly decent on this one.

If this device doesn't duplicate the sound of a guitar played through a Leslie all that well, which is it's purpose in life, then I wonder how close it will sound with keyboards.

I'll await additional demos, hopefully with keyboards, to see if I change my mind.

Cheers,
John
