Subject:Re: They're back
Has to be said; I am guilty of having played a Keytar (or similar) on at least one occasion. During the mid-1980s I was the instrumental half of an electro-pop duo called Mix It Up, along with a singer-songwriter called Anthea. When we played live, we used 4-track cassettes, one for each song, containing drum machine, electric piano, synth, harmonica and percussion backing, while vocals and bass guitar were both live. There was one song, "Best Of the Worst", I think, where we decided that bass guitar didn't sound right, so for that song I would strap on my Casio CZ-101 and play synth-bass. We used to drive to gigs all over London in Anthea's tiny Fiat 126 with a small PA system, a Fostex X-15 4-track cassette machine, my bass and the Casio. All very much of its time...
