Subject:Re: Roland's Atelier
My VK88 came with the better PK-25 pedals. The slide switches on the volume pedal are programmable on this too. I programmed the left for leslie speed, the right for brake. The VERY BEST place for this. So convenient!
Yes, Roland seems to be the least popular clonewheel, but I LOVE the two manual waterfall keys, fantastic vibrato, great overdrive control knob, completely adjustable Leslie parameters, and the orchestra tones. Drawbacks: Heavy for a clonewheel, heavy particle board bench is junk, and the keyboard cabinet is no better. I still think its best, and don't see anything I need on the new model to justify the $$$
I don't know what other brand pedals would work. The Roland PK7 and PK25 are interchangable. I don't know if they revised the pedals to work with the new keyboard.

I learned more from Ken Hughes' write-up than from the 5 videos that comprise the "first look." He seemed very forth-coming in the aspects I consider to be shortfalls of this axe. As I said in posting the original pointer, I've never been a Roland fan (other than the sound canvas I used to use to compensate for my computers' onboard midi sounds) and have never cared much for the VK clonewheel modeler. Still, I'd love to have a dual manual waterfall "Combo" workstation/synth/clonewheel.

Is anyone aware of another volume pedal available (other than the HS) that provides a programmable switching solution?
