Subject:Re: VB3 on a GIG .!!!

I used it for quite some time (I am not gigging right now).
I used a very old AMD Thurion single core laptop and as long as I was using just VB3 I never had a problem. The only problem that I had a couple of times is that the computer did not like the firewire cable to be unplugged, so I just needed to be careful with securing cables.

VB3 is very nice on resource usage, you do not need a lot of CPU power to run VB3.
I have to say that the laptop was setup for music only and did not have a lot of bloatware, as well as I setup all the optimizations for XP.

Subject: [CWSG] VB3 on a GIG .!!!

I am wondering how does one use VB3 on a gig ....
So you have a controller ..and VB3 is loaded on a Laptop is that correct ??? VB3 is loaded into

say for instance Motu Digital  Performer or any other DAW . an all is controlled at Computer or Controller ..

So all the hands-on organ controls are midi'd from VB3 on laptop to the controller?
So pretty much the weak link in VB3 usage is the stability of the Laptop ..is that a good
assessment ?

Is an Apple Laptop the most stable computer to use ??  More stable than a PC ??

I know reading Mike McKnights articles in Keyboard Mag ...he always recommends

a back up computer ..so if a crash should happen ..the user / performer can quik as is

humanly possible switch to backup computer ...

Obviously two computers are  not always possible with the struggling bar room small gig musician.

So my question is ..how many of you out there are using VB3 on gigs ..an please tell some of your stories  success an failures .

Thanks

MIke
