Subject:Re: good laptop for VB3

Hi,

VB3 is very low overhead. I run a 1-gig DELL D410 and I can run VB3 and other modelled instruments at the same time. Mine was reconditioned, other than the battery life was very low it's rock solid. (As a note, I run Cantabile for my DAW, again it's very low-overhead).

I think as much as getting a nice Laptop you should look at getting an external sound-car for it. Some people can run amplification off the headphone socket without a background hum, some of us cannot.

Finally, whatever if you want your laptop to be stable for live performance don't use it as a laptop!

That it is to say don't install games, don't surf the Internet on it, don't watch films. Work out what software you want on it, such as VB3 and your DAWs, do a clean XP/W7 install, install your software, go through the standard "audio optimisation for laptops" routines you can find the Internet, and then leave the laptop alone after that if you can help it.
