I have the same feeling about updating. My 8M sounds fine the way it is
from the factory. After that its me, the operator that needs an update
as to how to use it..
Last time I contacted Roland US, they made me send the unit back to
them on something that was a normal function of the D-beam. Was a waste
of time and money. Ergo Roland US didn't know their elbow from their
@$$ about the 8M and its functions.
With all the millions of combinations you can get out of the 8M in its
stock form, do you really need to add more? I end up running it like a
regular B3, pre-digital era anyway so a lot of the features are way and
above the tools needed to get a decent sound/use out of it as are most
clones these days.

I've thought of doing this for mine too, but I can't get a clear answer
as to what will be gained by doing it.
