We do a scaled down version of our group several times a year. It's
usually a benefit and we play only the stuff we want to do. Those gigs
are at a small room that has a miked up drum kit and floor monitors.
We just try to keep the stage volume as low as possible. On our
regular gigs we use electronic drum kit with a small roland drum amp
for the kick. The bass player uses (most of the time) a small amp.
That setup gives a little feeling to the in ear mix. We use an Allen
and Heath GL 2800-832 mixer so we have more than enough aux sends for
the in-ears. I rarely have to change my mix from one gig to the next.
I had a problem hearing some of the vocals but since we switched to
headsets, the problems disappeared. Now the bass player cannot back
out of his mike! I would hate to have to play regularly without the in-
ear system. It's like listening to a high quality recording as you
play. Now I just need a ventilator for more inspiration.
