Subject:SLA-1 rack unit and a combo bass amp.
Sorry friends,
Missed to explain tha in the case of using a combo bass amp on stage also I have been planning to amplify kinda "Y " organ LINE signal splitting as follows :
a) one signal with sim to the bass amp and a
b) a second one to a cab kinda Motion-Sound Pro3T ( upper horn only) but made of genuine Leslie assy. parts and a Hammond A-100 internal amp featuring (2) 6BQ5 tubes for just (15W rms) driving a MONO CAB set (with an adequate crosspoint driver for a pasive crossover along with a treble limiter for the driver.
With help of the VB3ers I'd understand how-to proceed to split two clone different signal, again, with and without SIM each one.
Even with a Native B4 VST the problem is the same for the above scenario, where should be needed TWO INSTANCES of the same clonewheel organ, that if the software licence allows it.
In such way each melody would feed two different amps accepting LINE IN:
one with rotary SIM, and the
other without SIM as an actual rotary horn will be used as swell.
Hope the above clarifies what I'm thinking to use on stage to get actual rotary sound that should be including horns , deflectors and if needed, quickdrum micing for the stationary units and a pair of SM57 for the upper horn.
Thought that the stationary bass frequencies of a stage monitor could be covered by a small venue combo bass amp fed with a simulated Leslie output from the CPU.
The ART rack , already mentioned (bridged mono = 260W RMS 8 ohm) hooked to Eminence 15" tailor made speaker cabs is thought more for medium venues and added to the Franken-leslie described above , intended as an 'stage monitor'
Any hints or corrections are highly appreciated.
Best,
Rafael
Hi Cloners,
Got this info about available options or buying both:
1. ART SLA-1 260 Watts RMS Bridged Mono 8 Ohms power rack.
2. HIWATT B60 ( 60w combo bass amp or 100W version).
All here doing gigging, which is best option or would need for both ? the Hiwatt as monitor with VB3 ?
Find that many times the unfaithful sounds wheter Hammond or a virtual piano, come from coloured power amps (those cheap Chinese racks ) with poor EQ.
Found technical opinions that the above ART SLA-1 specs fulfill better our needs, under $ 390 and without breaking the bank (i.e. QSC ).
Can be find a 'offshore units' LPS line from Crown, moderately priced if compared with more expensive brands ( Crest, QSC, etc.)
Found also a Mackie TH15 Thum but way more expensive ( 15" active speaker rate 400W ) at U$ 600.
The solid state HIWATT B60 combo bass amp is close to U$ 500 (local GST = 21%) IMO not bad for as stage monitor if using clones as VST.
Heard it with a Taylor acoustic guitar and got amazing bass sounds and great mid tones.
Told that as it can be that bass amps can't have coloured mid (under 6k) which is good for the EQ.
Did anybody here already try any of the above options ?
Best,
Rafael
