Subject:Re: MUSIC and Tinnitus and Hearing loss ??
I'm pretty sure I'd need to go back to that very first Tommy Shaw/Rush
concert I went to when I was 18.
Having played bass and keyboards for the last 25 years has not
improved my hearing, and I do have tinnitus, though I'm constantly
aware of being able to hear many thing that most people do not. I know
it will get worse, but I'm not too concerned as long as I can still
hear and feel the "music"...
Every now and then, someone screaming through a SM58 sets off my
hearing alarms. Something about that microphone when people are
screaming into it sounds absolutely terrible. It distorts at
frequencies that tickle my inner-ear. I know that's not good, but
sometimes I wonder if it only sounds bad to me.
The best hearing protection hands down is a reasonable stage volume. -pc
