Its a very strange affliction. My Dr. said that they really have no
idea why it happens. There are steps for treatment... First he
prescribed Xanax (hmmmm... is that for the ringing or my madness?)...
Now its off to a specialist where he will probably prescribe
Prozac.... Then finally an implant that sends out an ultrasonic sound
that tricks the brain into cancelling out the noise.
Mine started after a gig I did in February. Although the stage sound
level was no louder that I experienced in the past, for some reason I
found the perfect storm of sound pressure. The doctor found no damage
to my hearing... but the ringing is there. It comes and goes... but
now any loud music, or TV, or people yelling brings it on.
I am stopping because my main business is opera and theatre... and I
must be able to hear it to design it.
But tinnitus is no fun... People have committed suicide because of it.
