Good points. Seems that the Hammond/Leslie combo has long since taken on a sound of it's own but pretty sure it's true that both Mr. Hammond and Mr. Leslie were really originally trying to recreate a pipe organ sound.

From the little I know about it, the Leslie is supposed to simulate the tremulant effect from some pipes/ranks in a pipe organ. Does anyone here know what's actually going on in a real pipe organ to create the effect that a Leslie is designed to simulate?
