Subject:Re: Nord C2 Leslie Sim vs. Vent
I have been playing with the C2 this morning and comparing it to my new NUMA and my ventilator, and I quite like the new 145 leslie sim in the C2. I think that it is quite comparable to my new NUMA leslie sim. Both are quite convincing, and certainly good enough for any live gigs with my classic rock band.
Just as Mike suggested, I find that the NUMA and C2/145 sims sound pretty much comparable to the Ventilator if you're simulating a leslie sitting "over there", with the Ventilator mic distance at it's farthest setting.. That's basically how someone sitting in the audience at a club would hear, they would hear a leslie sitting over there..! What they won't hear on the C2 or the NUMA is what the leslie sounds like when you're sitting next to it (because neither has adjustable mic distance parameters). Neither will they be able to hear that close mic sound that you hear on a lot of recordings (which I also love).
For me it's the mic distance setting that separates the Ventilator from these other leslie sims.
