Subject:TREK II PREAMPLIFIED HAMMONDS ??

I have a friend ....called me up today and told me he just had his preamp in his Hammond B-3 replaced with a solid state TREK II unit   SSP-3A    ...

I am wondering what the general consensus of the SSP-3A unit is ....

The reason i am asking the brain trust of this forum ..is my friend told me ..( and he is not a well seasoned, many hammonds owned, user) as many of the users of this forum ....
anyway ..he told me his Hammond now sounds TOO CLEAN, NO BITE No over drive ......

So how does a user get the overdriven, big bite, sound we all know an love ...(tho to our own degree) to a Hammond with a TREK II PREAMP installed >???
