I totally agree with Bruce. I gigged with a v1 and v2 cx3. And I have recordings and the CX3 is a very good sounding clone. Even by today's standards. But the leslie sim would be near the bottom.

Hi Craig, On 6/12/2011 9:13 AM, ccmacdon@rogers.com wrote: > I had heard that they had made improvements to the BX3 but if the have it certainly wasn't apparent in the patches I tried. They made several improvements between the CX-3 version 1 and the BX-3. However, those changes, while significant, are now almost 10 years old -- and all of them were added to the 'version 2' CX-3. So, if you are comparing the BX-3 to the waterfall-keyboard CX-3, there are no sound engine differences whatsoever. That said, except for Korg's decision to back off on the level of vibrato on the BX-3/CX-3 v2, the changes were all for the good, and I think that the BX-3 can stand up well against most of the other clones -- particularly if one were to port the sound engine to a faster DSP with more D/A bits. One of the main complaints that I've heard about the BX-3/CX-3 is the tendency to a shrill upper octave, which is most likely due to 'aliasing' problems as the DSP runs out of sampling cycles at higher notes. Double the data rate and add a few bits to the DAC, and I would imaging that things would improve nicely. The BX-3 benefited from a little tweaking of the setup parameters, too; the stock settings were a little off the mark, IMHO, but could be dialed in nicely. Also, the Korg Leslie sim was amazing in its day, but in 2011? It's less impressive than Clavia's latest sim, and can't compare to the Ventilator.
