Subject:Re: NUMA of SK-1 or Crumar/Kronos

I tend to agree on the price MRK.. I highly doubt that it will sell for much under $2000 until later in the product cycle, perhaps 6-9 months down the road... The SK1 looks like a great all-in-one keyboard. However, I didn't consider it, for a number of reasons that I've posted in another thread.

Like yourself I'm not impressed with what I'm hearing from these various youtube clips.. I'm the first to point out that basing decision on youtube clips is not wise, but despite the fact that the SK1 has the same sound engine as the XK3C I am not hearing that great XK3C tone out of this unit (and I've heard some pretty good sounding XK3C youtube demos). All the organ demos sound kind of "rinky dinky" to me (I'm not sure how else to describe it). Perhaps it's because it's missing the tube output stage that the XK3C has??

Has anyone with an XK3C tried the new SK1/2, if so how does the sound and the leslie sim actually compare?

BTW, for anyone interested I tried the Korg Kronos last week.. unfortunately I was only able to spend about 10 minutes with it.. but Wow there's a lot there..!! Love the pianos.. lot's of great sounds/performances and features.. as a hammond fan, I spent about half the time going through the organ patches and I have to say that I'm not impressed with the organs/leslie sim. I didn't have much time to play with it, but after going through the presets I found it to be no better or worse than the new digital CX3/BX3. It was OK, but not up to the same level that the current crop of clones are at.. which was a bit dissappointing.
