That's true...you rarely hear about a failed Ventilator. They were well designed and tested before release. That is not to say they can't fail.
I have owned an XK-3 and still have an XK-3c and have never had an issue. They are also firmware upgradeable and I haven't heard of few if any
major issues. Considering the vastly larger number of these instruments in use compared to the few Numas that is a pretty good record.

and it does not happen all the time... Look at the Ventilator... It
seemed (and still is) rock solid when introduced (with upgrades for
rotary stop at a specific position later). But that was not a fault in
the original design. Just an update to address musicians' preference.
