And this is certainly not a problem isolated to musical instrument companies.
Last year my wife and I were new interested in purchasing a new generation Subaru Outback. After doing a bit of research we discovered that some Outback owners were experiencing violent steering wheel shake around 60 mph. We decided to wait until Subaru isolated and fixed the problem.
After a year (and after several tries) it looks like they finally figured it out and changed the steering assembly. Not a minor change. No new outbreaks of the steering problem have occurred. So now we confidently can buy the vehicle.
My point is that I would never buy a first generation of anything. Car, computer, keyboard, IPad, etc. Let someone else be the test monkey.
