Subject:Re: MOX/ GEM RP-X
I bought a GEM RP-X last week looking for an excellent mono piano and decent electric pianos. I have had to "settle" for the EP's on my Yamaha S-90 since selling my Nord Electro 2. The EP's on the Electro are awsome, I just had too many keyboards. Still do, but less than before. The EP's on the RP-X are, IMO, lousy. The acoustic pianos were no better than my Yamaha, but certainly different. I spent 12 hours with the RP-X and sent it back from where it came the next day. I was hoping for so much more. I can totally see, however, if one is gigging with a clone and wants a piano module that this could be the answer, as the RP-X has a small footprint. I would prefer a Motif rack with the DCP vintage keyboards soundset (which is what I have in my S-90). I have a Rhodes and a CP-70 set up in my studio for benchmark comparision. I have owned 3 different Wurlitzer piano's, and althought I don't have one currently, I know what one is supposed to sound like. As always, YMMV.
