Subject:Re: Crumar MOJO
Norm,
I like the Korg SV1 very much as well.. cool looking, great piano and electric piano sounds, and good clavinet sounds too.. Keyboard feel is great (I really like it) and it comes in 88 or 76 note versions!! One of the other strengths is the great interface! Real mini-moog style knobs you can turn and lots of effect options that are organized with a logical flow..
On the down side, the organs suck (I mean they really suck) and they are static (no drawbars).. a couple of organ samples are all you get. The other thing that limits it's use is the fact that you cannot split or layer the sounds.. I had heard that they were coming in an upgrade for the operating sustem that allowed splits, and layers. The extra sounds aren't great.. strings are OK.. and a "jump" analogue synth sound.. eek..
If this keyboard had the CX/BX organ engine, drawbars, and split layer capability it would be a great gigging keyboard. As it stands it's great IF you just need piano and electric piano. It does that very well..
I'm back to performing with my C2, it still does a great job with my classic rock stuff. I returned my NUMA, and I'm waiting to try the Crumar MOJO... like yourself I love VB3, and if the MOJO is well built and feels good, I will probably pick one up.
Selling your rackmount Motif to buy more VST's eh??? If you're not performing, and you're mostly working in your studio, VST's are so inexpensive, and sound so great that it's hard to find any better value.

Craig MacDonald

*Speaking of "vintage"..I was at the American Music in Seattle yesterday &
played a near mint VOX Jaguar..A real beauty! $1600.00!!
*
*I also played the KORG SV 1...I love that board..Lousy organ sounds
though..I mean real bad for a KORG! I'm done with NORD for a while..Played
an E3..Stage 2 EX..Nord Piano...Nice but after using VB3 Nord organs don't
do it for me anymore..IMHO. .
