I hate to tell you guys this, but I have taught creative lighting
design to many Japanese students over my 25 + years of teaching
graduate and undergraduate courses, and they are as creative as
anyone...
You may be confusing being non-creative with focus on precision. As we
all know, you have to be precise before you can improvise... Most
Japanese students do not suffer from distractions. They know how to
focus...
Most American students think they can mutli-task, when in fact they
only retain about 20% of what they are exposed to.... Watch the
Frontline program "Digital Nation"... we are creating a generation of
Americans who are incapable of critical analysis.
