Dave,
Yes I get that its those lovely vintage Tungsol 6550s and that end of the Leslie amp, xformers, etc., that make that growl. First time I ever investigated the tube circuitry H/S is placing in their keyboards. I have a Vox guitar modeling amp that uses a 12AX7 within an SS system but this amp uses the tube as a reference and no sound actually goes through it. Vox made a system that keeps referring to the tube to model certain tube amp models, for example, a VOX AC15, AC30, a Fender Tweed, etc and then it rearranges its digital SS circuitry or does some DSP processing (greek to me really but fascinating). According to what we've found out here, H/S actually uses two tubes and runs the sound split into highs and lows across both sides of two tubes and then the select-able biasing, crossover points associated with these tweaks is manipulated digitally from the main menu. This is quite different from anything I have ever heard about and I don't think Steve's pres/AMA do this although they are designed after the AO-28 from what I know and a Leslie amp. The basics. This is a different application though.

Obviously most of the sim/Vent guys are not going to be dragging along a Leslie, although I still do and will, and these tweaks, H/S decided to create for those using the sim. A whole different enchilada of tweaks and tone chasing.

Whatever H/S designed for that tube pre circuitry, sounds interesting to me and if a stand alone unit could be had based on that system, that would open up other uses other than organ, for the pre they've devised. Notice that AX7's are being substituted with AU7's and others and then re biased without using a multimeter. H/S was burning midnight oil to get that going with shapes of things to come.

Here's a sample of the "frying eggs" tone Dave talks about:

Preamps ain't where it's at for leslie distortion, so I wouldn't get too
excited about all the adjustments. It is the sound of POWER TUBES in the
leslie amp overdriving that gives that "frying eggs" sound.

The only tone box I have ever heard do that is the Speakeasy AMA. That's
