Subject:Re: XK3 tubes/OK so where's the SK1 reviews?

In the XK-3 the highs go through one side of the first tube and the other side of the second (ie: 1A - 2B) while the lows go through the other sides (ie: 1B - 2A) (It could be vice versa, its been a while since I checked). The frequency split point is selectable. Or there is a setting where all frequencies go through just one tube. Both tubes are 12AX7's out of the box.

In the '3c there is a 12AU7 and a 12AX7. There are four options: all through the AX, all through the AU, highs through the AX with lows through the AU and highs through the AU with lows through the AX.

In my XK-3 I have a 12AT7 in the 1 socket feeding a 12BZ7 in the 2 socket. Both 50's/60's era tubes. In my '3c I have a 12AV7 in the AU socket and a 12BZ7 in the AX socket. I have the highs going through the AV and the lows through the BZ. These are also 50's/60's era tubes. The frequency split point is adjustable as is the bias for both tubes.
