I agree with the last statement about the "boomy-ness" of the KC 550. That is
why I bought the KC 350 with the 12 inch speaker. For a practice amp or very
small venues it would be a good choice.

I own a KC-550 its built really well, but the main problem with the sound is the
fact that it has the 15" speaker. I've found, along with others, that keyboards
sound a bit too "boomy" with not enough midrange through the Roland.
If the Carvin has a 15" speaker, even with an additional midrange speaker, you
may run into the problem with the overall sound. That said, the Roland is still
a keeper in my book for other uses and as a practice amp.
