My niece Jill went for her first piano lesson at the piano teacher's house--she
was maybe 6 at the time. Her parents have an old grand piano at home. Due to age
and condition, their piano usually is tuned about 1/2 tone flat. The teacher's
grand was tuned to concert pitch.

The teacher encourage Jill to play a note, which she did. She turned to her
mother and said "Mom, the E on this piano is higher than the E on the piano at
home."
