The Vox Jaguar was the first organ I owned. I built it from a Heathkit and it
was $299 at the time (69' - 70' ?).
I eventually ran it through a Fender guitar Leslie. ....

Take a peak at this Jaguar:

The top of the orange lid is fairly clean, but the sides of the lid are dark and
discolored. You can even see some of the discoloration just above the metal
"dashboard plate" on the keyboard side.

I've seen a number of Jags just like this. (In fact, if you look in the Photos
section under "Alan's Jaguar" you can find photos of one I used to own that show
the same discoloration just above the dashboard. It was also discolored on the
other sides, but that's harder to see in the photos )

I've never seen the same thing on an Italian Connie, even though some were built
with that same "chain mail" Tolex.

My best guess is that they must have used some nasty adhesive on the sides of
the Jag lid that attacked the Tolex over the years. (But funny that you wouldn't
see the same on the top of the lids. No glue used there?)

Any other theories?

(By the way, the gray Tolex on this piece is in incredible shape.)
