I am confused here....mainly cause i dont know any confused Hammond players!!

I just got the notice from Roland Connect also on the Roland Atelier
combo AT-350.
I like the looks of it ....tho i really am not getting a close up look at the
knobs and buttons ....that said ....lets get to the negatives ...thats what we
do right ..as keyboard players IMHO we attack the negatives of each an every
keyboard produced from keyboard creator land ....

What i want to know mainly is ..How good are the Hammond sounds ?
How good is the leslie emulation ..tho i have a VENT...
...How good are the EP sounds? ....How good are the Strings and Horn sounds ?
and
What is the cost ??

The very first thing i noticed was the non waterfall keys on the upper Keyboard
...telling me tho they are promoting this as a Combo Organ
They really have no clue what real organ players IMHO want their fingers to
touch ...
Is there anyone out there that has ever really liked the feel of non waterfall
keys ..? Or am i just toooo much of a tradionalist ??

I did not see anything in the Roland Connect ad to really promote sounds other
than organ on the ATELIER ...i.e EP and synths etc ....tho the video did show
a bit of the D-beam ...( I have a Fantom X-8) and am familiar with Roland sounds
and D-Beam and workstation ...It is the only workstation i have ever had and i
do like it ....I was entranced by the X-8's nice large color Display screen. and
Piano sounds ... I digress ..lets get back to the ATELIER .

I like the idea of real Harmonic drawbars .... With my NORD E3 i disliked the
LED drawbars .now i have the OceanBeach drawbars and after 4-5 mo i am still
not used to the placement of the OBD bars ..
so seeing the drawbars on the ATELIER i was enthused.

In Conclusion ..it all comes down to sounds an price ..for me ...

So is the ATELIER at NAMM ?? & Has anyone seen an ATELIER in person in a
music store for sale ?? How much ?? has to be $5K+ i would think JMHO.
I don't think it is on the mkt yet as KEYBOARD MAG has not critiqued it as of
yet ..

As i said i like the looks of it ...but pictures pretty much always look better
than reality'

And of course Roland is promoting the Roland Keyboard amps as the Best Amp for
the job ....lolol

Thanks for sharing.
IMHO the keyboard configuration makes little sense for Hammond players. The
upper manual has only 5 octaves of non-waterfall keys (kind of springboard it
seems). And the lower keyboard extends down to an A (most likely to emulate the
low end of a full 88 key acoustic piano). This can be very confusing for Hammond
players, used to the note C being the lowest key of the standard 61 key C - C
organ keyboard (same as all pipe organs).

The two keyboards on the new Roland organ most likely have different key
response as well. The upper manual seems to bemore of a synth/solo keyboard and
the lower seems to be some kind of weighted piano keyboard. Makes perfect sense
except for Hammond players who don't need (and don't want) any non-Hammond
sounds.

This organ seems to be some kind of "entertainer" keyboard for weddings and
similar events where "smooth" old school party music (including the keyboardist
doubing for Karaoke later in the night) is asked for. I'm fine with that, it
just isn't my gig.
