This idea may not be for you, but it is possible to literally take a cheap and unused 61 note midi keyboard/synth apart and use the manual and midi out electronics. How the case is constructed will determine how you go about this, but the main idea is to fashion a new flat top (possibly from thin hardboard) whose top surface is flush with the top surface of the white keys. In this way, the sharps will stand their full height above the top surface.

If you can do this, you will find you can place your clonewheel right on top and have the lower manual as close as a real Hammond console. To get it as close as possible, cut holes in the hardboard top that line up with the rubber feet of the clone so it fits flush to the hardboard top. I am about 85% done with a project like this but it got stalled almost indefinitely when I picked up a CV. I may however finish it up soon as moving the CV is always a project in itself.

When I get back to it, I'll shoot some pix if anyone's interested.
