Hi Mike,
Actually the AO-28 is a pretty basic pre-amp. I would imagine the Speakeasy is based on it with some eq control and the proper gain added in.
I don't know if Speakeasy publishes their schematic. I would have heard it's a great sounding preamp and I would like to try one someday.
It's not in the budget right now but the Ventilator overdrive couples with the XK-3c preamp has been sounding excellent. I am running the organ
and a couple other keyboards through a 2kw tri-amped set of KV2s and have no problem keeping up with the guitars on stage.
I hope you all had a great New Year's....all the best in 2011!
Cheers,
Gary

There have been a number of people who have taken their clone and utilized
the phono input on an AO-28 for comparison and were amazed with the
improvement in sound of their clone. I doubt any clone manufacturer would be
willing to incorporate the final stage of an AO-28 into their keyboard in
this price competitive market.

You bring a very important point here. The big reason that B3 sounds good
yet is based on one thing. That B3 has a AO28 Class A tube preamp in it.
Trust me I know. Remove the preamp & you made a 350 LB Clone. We have done
the test. So your statement does not hold much water here....

What there are NOT tons of options of are Hammond organ clones that do not
require outboard gear to make them sound authentic . Give it to me all in
one package, please. I can plug a B-3 into a mixer and a pair of speakers (
ala Brian Auger) and get a great sound. I want an organ clone that can do
the same.
Fire away.....
