Subject:Re: should I sell my VK8 and buy a Nord C2
Nope - I am still not buying that the Nord C-2 is dramatically better sounding than the VK8 engine.
The VK8 has a quality of chorus vibrato that will hold its own against the Nord C2 or ANY clone..... Including the NUMA which I have. Particularly the Vintage 1 amp settting. The Roland chorus in not behind the curve AT ALL.
Does the Nord C2 have adjustable percussion decay and /or adjustable percussion volume? The VK8 does.
I have heard very good results from the VK8 leslie sim if you are skilled at editing on it. Is the C-2 adjustable?
Also there is very good overdrive on the VK8, and there are several different varieties and intensities.
I have spent a lot of time with the VK8/ VK8m sound engine , and I have never found much if anything at all to be displeased with. One of the reasons I am choosing the Numa at this time is due to the leslie sim, weight, keyboard feel and overall authenticity of tone.
I don't want to put the Nord C-2 down or any other Nord stuff down because a lot of people get good results with it, and I like what they do with it. Most of the people I hear that play Electros play rock, and love to use it with Ventilators or whatever. But after hearing and playing the C-2 at NAMM I "sort of " liked it... I liked the two manuals, but I didn't think the sim or the tone generation was "dramatic" over other things I had heard.... including the Roland.
