Karns,

Is it really necessary to call a beginner an idiot? We all have to start learning somewhere, and these forums are a great place to ask questions!

For the record, in my opinion the only DAW that comes close to being really simple and easy to use, is Garage Band, in part because it's already installed and configured to work with the hardware!!

Most of the more sophisticated DAW's have a significant learning curve associated with them. Cubase is no different than Sonar in that regard. The challenge is that you have to properly install and configure the HW/SW, you have to learn the software (functionality, work-flow and quirks)and then there is a steep learning curve to understand the recording techniques that these DAW's employ (midi vs audio, bussing, effects processing, mastering, etc).

The good news is that most companies these days have lot's of great tutorials available for people to learn their products. Cakewalk for example has the SONAR University with tutorials targeted at everyone from beginner to expert. Furthermore there are tons of youTube videos that show people how to use these products as well.

You have to jump in and start somewhere.
