Subject:Numa logic
So which clones use rocker switches anyway? Last time I looked Hammond
Suzuki , Nord Electro, Roland Korg and Voce use various versions of push
button switches.
The Numa does one thing that others don't do. The switches LIGHT UP.
Someone commented on another list what a huge advantage this is on a dark stage.
If you remember the settings you want the lights make an impression on your
memory. I pretty much have my Numa light impressions down to 3 different
settings. All 4 lights for 3rd Harmonic /Fast decay. 3 lights for slow
decay, 1, 2 and 4. 3 lights for second harmonic 1,2,3. It's easy.
The slots for the drawbars make total sense to me also. Why not? It keeps
them aligned. That way, there is less chance for future mechanical problems.
Even though it is light the Numa side panels are made of solid wood. At
least one very popular clone is not.
And the Numa sounds like A HAMMOND. It doesn't sound like a modified
Hammond. You don't have to tweak the chorus vibrato for a year to get it to
sound like a Hammond.
The leslie sim on the Numa is subtle. You can use chorus vibrato and slow
spin and it still sounds nice. You can hear this effect on "The Incredible
Joey De Francesco at NAMM 2011" Youtube video clip.
Joey uses slow spin and chorus vibrato through out his 6 minute solo and
the sound never gets phasey or weird. This is one of the better chorus
vibrato/ chorale sounds I have heard from any organ, digital or analog. If you
are trying to decide which sim is best, listen to this. The Numa doesn't get
in the way.
I also think that Numa has the most authentic key click.I still wish for
percussion volume and decay length adjustability though. But I have heard
rumors of OS updates. Please, assign percussion volume adjustment instead of
that leakage knob ! That would be much more useful.
Keep in mind that everyone has a slightly different thing that the are
going for. I am hearing a lot of things from the Numa that I am used to hearing
from my B-3, not from a modified example.
