Subject:OT JV-2080 slave to C2 Midi ques.
I generally play the organ 98 % of the time on one of my gigs. I need a grand sound and electric piano sound on a couple of tunes. Until recently, I've been using the Roland JV-1010 because it's compact and I can get away with the sounds in it.
The problem with the JV-1010 is that there is no display and in a dark room I have to spin the knob around until I get to the setting I want. This takes a few seconds and this band often uses the "audible" set list instead of something written in advance so I'm ready with the patch when needed.
I also have a JV-2080. Here's the question:
I'm going to set up a Performance on the 2080 with a grand on one channel and the EP on the next and whatever else I need on channels 3 thru 16.
I'll be controlling the sounds from the C2.
I'd like to simply move the cursor on the 2080 and be at the next sound. This won't work because each channel, so it sounds by itself, needs to have it's own midi number. i.e. 1-2-3 and so on.
The only way I can now think to accomplish this is to have the midi section open on the C2 and dial midi numbers up or down to the next number/patch I need in Performance mode.
This seems sort of primitive.
I'm wondering if there is a reasonably priced device that I can set up so one touch sets up the next patch without have to diddle around with the C2. It would be nice if this device could store different templates for the different bands I work with.
OR is there some way to do this on the 2080 that's a one-touch fix? It seems like I did this once many moons ago but it's long been forgotten.
Bruce, I'm sure you've got some advice on this.
Chuck
