Agreed 100%. That's why I opted long ago for the XK-3 and didn't bother to pay the same money for the XK-3c one year later. The layout is inspiring and it's a Hammond, even tough it sounded awful directly into the mixing desk, but that was mainly the fault of the bad leslie sim and the Sovtek stock tubes. Now with all that fixed, it sounds (at least in sustained tone) almost exactly like a Hammond and (almost) plays like one.
They say the percusion is not righ. But since I play in a gospel band, I don't use it often. I could need a great C-2 and C-3 Chorus setting and more authentic key cick though. It's definitely not the most authentic clone. I did play an XK-3 out of the box last summer - it is almost undistinguishable to my ears....

i'm with ya on the real drawbar front my electro is starting to drive me nuts on that front. in the end maybe the best thing is to pick the board thats most comfortable to play because for recording you have real hammonds and live nine out of ten people dont know what the hell's authentic. seems better to be at peace with the layout before the sound. at least for me.
