Subject:Re: Numa, Xk3c, Nord, most authentic?
I've owned pretty much every clone out there (Xk3, Electro 3, Nord C1, etc) and I have found that the Numa is the closest in sound to the tonewheels I've owned (BC, B3s, M3, A100, C3 etc.), particularly for playing jazz.
As others have stated, the internal sym is excellent. It is a little different than the Vent, better in some respects (fast tremolo), and not quite as good in others (not as agressive overdrive). I have a Vent, but have no need to use it with the Numa, so the Vent stays at church with my C1.
The Numa really shines in it's authentic midrange which gets put to good use when playing jazz. You'll have no problem getting 88800000 to sound like it should.
Another area where a lot of clones fall short is the 88888888 full organ 'compression' sound. The Numa nails it.
You are right, for jazz, two manuals is a huge plus. The Numa doesn't currently offer a 'matching' lower manual, but you can easily midi it to another keyboard and it is also set up to handle pedals.
