Dave is correct, the Vents have been extremely reliable. Since you problem is intermittent it may be a simple fix.
You can try Dave's suggestion or if you aren't comfortable take the unit to a technician who can troubleshoot it
for you. Service information isn't available for these units that I am aware of but for this kind of problem may
not be necessary.
Good Luck,
Gary

Yup... Bruce can no doubt sort you out, but you could try this as a
quick fix:-
Just a thought Barry... but did you have the stereo by-pass solder mod
done on the input switching of the Vent? I just wondered if those
solder points may be leaking and or shorting across causing the
problem? Would not take much to whip the bottom cover off to check.
Also gently press down on the smaller PCB and press it firmly home to
the main PCB... it is a multi plug/socket arrangement that joins the two
boards togeather... it is remotely possible that a knock or jar may have
dislodged the plug slightly? The Vents are so reliable its almost
unheard of to have a problem else!
Hope this helps...
