Gene I was responding to Craig's comment re the difference the QSC10's made. I am not an audio engineer so dI ummed down the science to the basic premise "if you want to hear high amplitude frequencies then you need large surface area transducers" this means I will not use less than 12" speakers for any system, be that home hi-fi, guitar or keyboard amp.  Having said that size generally equals weight (my combo guitar amp weighs 30kgs with a massive magnet on a 12" speaker) so sometimes lighter weight smaller speakers make sense for gigging particularly where you have a bass player and there is not a call for deep bass kb tones.  I use on old Fender guitar amp with a 12" speaker for keyboards in my home and using Minimonster synth I can rattle the windows at relatively low volumes in the lowest ocatve of a 61 note midi controller (no transposing).

Mark,
The K10s give you sufficient Bass? I've been considering one, possibly 2. My Barbetta with 2 10" speakers doesn't do deep bass for some synth sounds that I need.

"I just plugged the Kronos into my QSC K10's and holy crap this thing sounds great."

Craig, IMHO decent bottom end is the hardest part to get right, you can tweak the highs but if the speakers will not do bass it don't matter how much EQ'ing you do it is not going to happen.

Thanks for the update and your assessment of the options - as others have said user assessment beats a mag review any day.

I agree for a jam night one box that can be set up in 2 mins is essential. However for gigs our drummer takes 20 to 30 mins to lug in and set up and I can do both the midi, laptop cables etc. and my guitar and amp in the same time - altho I do wish I could get it done quicker so I am not trying to get the right amount of foldback for the keys while the drummer is fine tuning his snare and toms:).

Cheers

Mark
