Yes, that was full of Holiday cheer, wasn't it? Yikes.
My wife is a buyer/importer/sourcer of electronic components and buys from all over the world. There are good and not-so-good sources in China - just like everywhere else. She has some highly reputable suppliers there, has been over to inspect the factories, wines and dines the reps in NYC when they come here. She informs me that you'll not find some parts anywhere else. Certainly, if defective parts are an issue, they would have to get by my wife's company first (if any doubt exists parts are sent to test houses) and then also get past quality control at the manufacturer. Yes, shit can still happen, but not as often as you might think. Don't assume that an audio hiss is necessarily due to the quality of individual components, things can go wrong at any stage of design and production.

It doesn't matter where they source their components, they are responsible for the quality of any product that has their name on it.. designing, building, quality control and after-market service and support.
