Subject:Re: Hammond SK2 - Gig Tested

Shawn, I had a NUMA for about a month and sent it back due to software glitches as well.. I was really sorry to have to do that because I loved the sound and feel of it... it really was a fantastic clone, but I had it lock up a half dozen times in the first two weeks, and twice in the middle of a song at a gig! I wouldn't buy another one, not because I had a bad experience with my original purchase, but because of the poor after market support.. poor manual, lack of responsiveness through tech support channels etc. Perhaps that was just a Canadian problem, but I wouldn't go there again.

I have an SK-1 on order (been waiting a month now).. and I'm anxious to see how it sounds.. I use QSC K10's for amplification and I've never been a fan of the Traynor K-series, although others seem to like them.. My NORD C2 sounds great through the K10's and especially good through a Ventilator pedal and into the K10's!! I'm hoping the SK1 will as well. We'll see.. I am pretty fussy.

I do like the upgradability that is built into todays clones specifically the new Hammond/Nord models that have sample memory. Most current clones have upgradable Operating Systems, but only certain models have sample memory which allows for completely new sounds to be loaded. This is a feature that, beyond basic organ sound, adds significant flexibility and longevity to a keyboard and one of the reasons that I've got a SK1 on order..
