Subject:Re: Arturia controller...
My new Axiom 61 came with a USB cable and nothing more--no manual, no disc.
These are found easily enough online, but it wasn't a quick and easy
setup. There is software available from M-Audio which allows the Axiom to
communicate with a few programs; I use Reason 4 on my laptop and after
installing the DirectLink software they're getting along nicely--it's fun
naming an instrument in Reason and seeing the name pop up on the Axiom
screen. In Reason controls for each module are pre-mapped to Axiom knobs
and sliders; works great. They're easy enough to re-assign, and I'll be
working on honing a live rig setup over the next few weeks. Splits and
layers, fx, yada yada. Reason has wonderful pianos, ep's, strings etc.
It's going to sound great and be very flexible. I believe that Reason 6
has the DirectLink stuff built in.
The Axiom keyboard feels pretty good to me. I'd like to find out if there
are velocity curves to adjust, but haven't even started to look yet.
