Subject:Re: Audio Interface Hardware for VB3 Application

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your email and information.I will be picking up an interface soon and use that for the external sound processing. I will be using Cantabile which seems to be the favourite amongst most of the VB3 users.

Thanks for your help, your information points me in the right direction.

Best Regards

Murray

Subject: [CWSG] Re: Audio Interface Hardware for VB3 Application

Hi,
I have both a Tascam US-144 and a Midiman M-Audio 2x2 midi interface and I use Cantabile as my host software for VB3 as well as a couple of other VSTs.Though both interfaces are excellent I usually use the Tascam because of the versatility of having the audio connections as well as Midi connections on the one device. There is also a phones jack ,line in/out,digital out and 5 adjustment knobs.I think the Tascam functions as the sound card whereas if I use the audio out from the laptop I am using the soundcard of the laptop.
I don't like running the audio from my laptop as a ground loop is audible when using the speaker output (I can solve this by either lifting the ground on the power supply or using a direct box where I can lift the audio ground). I don't experience the problem with the Tascam. Also I don't like using the small audio connector that most laptops use. I think the USB cable is more robust. From the Tascam out I use some heavy duty RCA cables with 1/4" adaptors to my Powered Eon speakers.
If I needed 2 midi ports I would have to use the M-Audio interface but that is not the case at this time. I consider it my backup interface.
I hope this helps. Please ask any questions if you have them.
