Subject:Re: Crumar and Hamichord Updates

b-3 guys have some keyb products ,i just picked up a keyb exp
module from them a few weeks ago ,really nice piece ,i think
it sounds a little better than my numa , a little ballsier maybe ,
i,d like to sell or trade in the numa .the module's built like
a tank , having two sets of drawbars is great ( they're metal ,
same dimensions as the originals ) i think it sounds as good
or better than the vb3 and the interface is very strait forward .
i would say it's biggest drawback is it's fairly large , the
actual box ( minus the drawbars ) is 8 1/2 inches deep . also it's
got the same problem as the numa in that it's fussy 'bout what
you play it through , it sounds killer through a leslie or over
phones though , i'd like to demo it through those 15 inch harbinger
monitors later this week , i'll let you know how it sounds
for anyone familier with the numa , the overdrive and crosstalk
are much more useful on the exp and you can adjust the perc. volume
and the decay , with the leslie sim in brake mode it toggles between
fast and stop , the remote switch is set up for a momentary on type
switch , i found a neat way around that using a three position toggle
switch . if you set the exp in single keyboard mode you can switch
from one set of drawbars to the other , in double mode one set does
channel one and other channel two , pedals are on channel three or
you can send them to the lower manual . there's an audio in which
sends the signal through the reverb , two band eq ,and overdrive ,
i,ve run my A100 through it and into phones , dial in some bass on
the eq and it sounds great .
there's also three different clones available through it but the
difference between them is kind of subtle , and you can transpose
on the fly which is handy .
