With all the extensive discussions about the Clontrol going on, I figured I'd show the development of my Nord set-up.
I had a Nord Electro 3, (which I liked), and I really loved the idea of the Nord Combo organ. But...I also needed other sounds EP's, etc, for my band and I'd rather not be carting extra boards anymore.
So.... I bought a second E3, stripped them apart, and conjoined them into a single Combo-style unit. Big job, but well worth the effort. This has been my rig for a while now.
I've uploaded some photos into Photo Album "Nord CP Electro 3 Combo Organ". (I'm not sure how to add a direct link to them here.)
Recently I got the desire to add real drawbars. The Oceanbeach unit looks great, but I wanted upper, lower & bass controls and preferably real-style drawbars. I did consider two Oceanbeach units, but that's getting very pricey and they were out of stock at the time anyway. So I did a bit of research and built a set using a controller from Midi Hardware and a pot & knob set from Doepfer.
I've now started on a Mark2 Combo Organ version which will include 20 drawbars and extra button controls for presets & various other things. There are some pics of that too.
It's coming together nicely so far.
This is definitely a one-off. I have no desire whatsoever to produce it commercially. The labour alone would put the price out of most musician's reach. (Something I think the Clontrol guys are probably learning the hard way at the moment.)
I hope you enjoy the journey.
Cheers,
Pax
