That actually makes sense. The Ventilator has a 'true' bypass, which
means it ties the input to the output through a relay, rather than
buffers the output. This means that the if the input has a DC signal
riding on it, the Vent will try to tie it to the output -- which almost
certainly does *not* have a DC level on it, and the change will make a
loud pop.
