Subject:Beatles & Byrds & Rickenbacker guitars ...
If my memory serves.....
" A Hard days Night " movie came out in early Fall of 1964 ...."Mr Tamborine Man" by the Byrds was released about Xmas of 1964 .....or maybe even early 1965...
So were the Beatles playing Rickenbacker guitars on the Ed Sullivan show ...first appearance ???

I think it was McGuinn who saw Harrison play the Rickenbacker 12 string in "A Hard Day's Night" and decided he had to have one. The Ricknebacker folks gave Harrison the guitar during filming I think.
