I think it was McGuinn who saw Harrison play the Rickenbacker 12 string in "A Hard Day's Night" and decided he had to have one. The Ricknebacker folks gave Harrison the guitar during filming I think.

*BUT....George Harrison did get the Rickenbacker 12 string thing from Roger McGuinn from the Byrds!! Also Pet Sounds influenced the Beatles to outdo the Beach Boys with Sgt. Pepper..I just loved seeing VOX amps everywhere!~ A glorious** time it was!
